Beijing Capital International Airport, China

The Beijing Capital International Airport is the largest and busiest airport in China. It has rapidly ascended in rankings of the world’s busiest airports in the past decade. In 2008, passenger volumes have doubled to 55.94 million, making Beijing Capital International Airport the 8th busiest airport in the world.

To accommodate the growing traffic volume, Beijing Capital International Airport expanded its existing terminals to include a new Terminal 3 in 2008. Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3 is one of the largest terminal in the world, and the 3rd largest building in the world by area. Construction of Baggage Handling Systems for the new terminal started in 2005 and was completed by February 2008 in time to handle the surge in passengers visiting the Beijing Olympic Games in August of 2008.
