New Bangkok International Airport, Thailand

New Bangkok International Airport, also known as Suvarnabhumi Airport, was built to replace the old Bangkok International Airport which was experiencing overcrowding. Costing an estimate of US3.8 billion, the airport started operation on 15 September 2006.

It is the 5th busiest airport in Asia, having handled 40.5 million passengers and a major air cargo hub. New Bangkok International Airport will eventually be able to handle 150 million passengers and 6.4 million tonnes of cargo a year.

Pteris Global was awarded the project to design, supply and installed a new Baggage Handling System for the airport, which was successfully completed and handed over on 28 September 2006 when it went into full operations.
